This design provides a simple shape and two roof line options for ease of constructability, and standard door & window sizes for affordability. The 4/12 or 8/12 roof pitch options allow for storage and affordable roof materials, and the siding options offer a range of affordability.
All plans can be rotated to maximize windows & porches for passive heating/cooling. The gable roof allows for large solar areas & future rainwater collection. All fully electric & energy efficient appliances.
The square shape allows for plan rotation/mirroring for site access. Roof height options provide flexibility to meet any site height restrictions. Slab on grade or raised wood floor foundation options can accommodate a variety of slope needs.
All floor plans are 1 story, and the fully covered entry porch can be adapted with a ramp for slopes. 36" doors can accommodate wheelchairs and mobility. Kitchen and walkways are designed with mobility in mind.
Proposed north & south windows capture Flagstaff's natural light and wrap around porches capture the local mountain/forest views. Exterior lighting shall be shielded & warm toned to honor Flagstaff's dark sky. Siding options incorporate the new & old local aesthetic. The gable roof nods to the traditional A-frame style of the area while incorporating efficiency. Roof options & exterior storage options creatively maximize space.
